I am very passionate about equality overall, and I have quite clearly in the past shown this with my views for deaf education. However, with my beliefs in equality, this naturally makes me a feminist – and I’m super proud to call myself a feminist!
We are about to enter the year 2019, and I know as a young, white man with no disabilities or hearing loss, this automatically makes me ‘privileged’ and that disgusts me! I may not be as privileged as the next guy because of my sexuality, but that’s a whole other kettle of fish.
Anyway, this post isn’t about that, I’m talking about what I feel passionate for – equality! Being a feminist, in my eyes, is about men and women both having the same opportunities, the same chances and the same treatment. It’s not about one being favoured over another. Men have been given an easy ride for a very, very long time, whilst women have enough to deal with from their very own bodies! I have no idea how you Mothers deal with childbirth! Hats off to you all!
Whilst it’s all good and nice that I am all for equality, one thing I have tweeted about in the past, and I get a bit angry about are the ‘extreme’ feminists. I can imagine you’re probably thinking ‘what’s an extreme feminist?’
I don’t think it’s an official term, it may be something that I’ve made up. However, I’m talking about the women that don’t just want equality, they want more privileges than men. Is this just to prove a point because for all those years there’s been a few (excuse my language now) d$%khead men that have belittled women, and they want to repay them? If that’s the case, then I feel they’re as bad as each other.
Our society is filled with enough war, hatred, bullying, crime and so on, why try and add to that by creating an unbalanced society? Give everyone the same chances and treatment, and everyone would just be a bit happier. Don’t you think?
